Rohingya Repatriation: Dhaka seeks help from C’wealth

AK Abdul Momen, Foreign Minister, has asked for the solidarity of the Commonwealth to ensure a smooth repatriation from Myanmar of Rohingyas back to Myanmar's Rakhine. As the leader of the Bangladesh delegation at the 21st Commonwealth Ministers' Meeting, he urged the Commonwealth to help convince the government in Myanmar to honor their commitments. Momen spoke out about the impasse surrounding the voluntary repatriation of Forcibly Displaced Myanmar Nationals to Myanmar (FDMNs), and their partial relocation in Bhasan Char. He sought to increase intra-Commonwealth trade and ensure vaccine equity. Commonwealth leaders praised Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for her humanitarian efforts in giving shelter to thousands of FDMNs, saving thousands of lives and ensuring that they were safe.
